Packers rumors: Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers $2 million per year apart

The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are roughly $2 million per year apart on reaching an agreement on a contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Rapoport adds that the Packers’ current extension offer to Rodgers is believed to average slightly more than $21 million per year. This would make him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, as Joe Flacco’s recent extension with the Baltimore Ravens was for $20.6 million per year.

Rodgers is currently set to receive $19.75 million over the next two years, and the two sides continue discussing how much he’ll earn over that period following his next contract.

Beyond Rodgers, other high-profile Packers players – including linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive tackle B.J. Raji – are up for contract extensions.
