New York Giants restricted free agent wide receiver Victor Cruz is expected to stay away from the team until he receives his new contract, but that doesn't mean he wants out of the Big Apple. With rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z's Roc Nation handling Cruz's marketing, the wide receiver has told his agent that he wants to remain in New York, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports.

"[Cruz] told his agents not to sign him with another team because he wants to work with Jay-Z," a source told Yahoo!. "There might have been a couple of teams interested, but he didn't want to go anywhere."
While this could be considered good news for the Giants, the sides haven't appeared to begin talks regarding a new contract. ESPN has reported that no figures have been exchanged between Cruz's agent and New York, but there is also speculation that the wide receiver is seeking close to $11 million annually while the Giants are countering with an offer closer to $7 million per year.
New of Cruz's desire to remain in New York should provide the Giants with at least a little additional leverage, but the wide receiver figures to use his ability to hold out to try and spur on the completion of a deal.
