Eric Fisher, left tackle from Central Michigan, may be the Kansas City Chiefs' first-overall pick if they do not trade the selection tonight at the NFL Draft. Despite months of speculation that the Chiefs would select Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel, sources believe that the Chiefs now prefer Fisher.
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports is reporting that the preference in the Chiefs' camp has switched from Joeckel to Fisher, and that the team is likely to take Fisher with the first-overall pick. In addition to Glazer, Ian Rappaport and Albert Breer of the NFL Network agree that Fisher may be the first overall selection.
Last year's draft had no drama at the number one pick, as the Colts made their intentions to draft Andrew Luck clear from the beginning. This year, however, with no marquee talent at the quarterback position, there have been questions at the top of the first round. The Chiefs have continually added to the mystery by not expressing an interest in a specific player publicly.
