In his first round NFL mock
draft Peter King of Sports Illustrated, has the Cleveland Browns trading back
with the San Diego Chargers for the No. 11 pick and picking up an additional second round
pick.
The Browns struggled to put points on the board offensively
last season with first-round quarterback Branden Weeden at the helm. Cleveland
only averaged 18.9 points per game, good enough for 24th in the league.
Additionally, the team struggled in the Red Zone, scoring touchdowns only 43%
of the time.
Since their return to Cleveland in 1999, the Browns have had
18 starting quarterbacks play at least one game. The Browns certainly have had
their misfortunes at drafting quarterbacks. Many thought Weeden would be the
answer, but his 5-10 record as a starter and 30 year old age have new CEO Joe
Banner and the front office concerned.
