Davone Bess has been traded to the Browns, I'm told
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 26, 2013
There had been talks of this potential deal for some time,
as the Browns and Dolphins were discussing a Bess for picks swap. In exchange
for the wide out, Miami receives picks No. 104 and No. 164 overall, while
Cleveland added Bess and picks No. 111 and No. 217.
Following the trade, Bess signed a three-year extension with
the Browns. He joins a roster that includes several young receivers – including
Greg Little, Josh Gordon and Travis Benjamin. The veteran has averaged 64
catchers per season over his first five years with the Dolphins. He became expendable to Miami after they signed Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson this
offseason.
