Last week, Pittsburgh Steelers free agent linebacker James
Harrison visited with the Cincinnati Bengals. Over the weekend, it appeared
that a deal was imminent, as both sides were expressing high levels of interest
in reaching an agreement. However, talks are now reportedly “not going well,”
and the prospects of a contract between Harrison and the Bengals “doesn’t look
real good,” according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Asked a source to characterize the James Harrison/Bengals talks: "Doesn't look real good." These things can always change tho

Rapoport does add that contract talks have a way of ebbing
and flowing, and this recent report doesn’t mean that Harrison won’t get a deal
done with the Bengals. It could signal that the veteran linebacker is keeping
his asking price high, while Cincinnati is only interested in acquiring the
former Defensive Player of the Year for a reduced rate.
Harrison was one of several linebackers to visit with the
Bengals last week. While Cincinnati was said to prefer Harrison, they could be
using the alternative options – such as Karlos Dansby – as leverage.
