The Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in free agent defensive
end/outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil – who was recently released by the Denver
Broncos due to an error on the part of his agent – after cutting veteran James
Harrison prior to the free agent signing period, according to Aaron Wilson of
The Baltimore Sun.
Considering Pittsburgh had to cut Harrison and restructure
the contracts of several other players – including Troy Polamalu and Ben
Roethlisberger – it could be difficult for the team to sign Dumervil, who is
now one of the most highly-coveted players on the free agent market. Still, Wilson
notes that the Steelers could get creative and cut other players in order to
make room for Dumervil.
Wilson reported yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans are also among the teams interested inDumervil. The former Broncos pass rusher finished the 2012 season with 11
sacks. He recorded an NFL-leading 17 sacks in 2009.
