Jets rumors: New York willing to listen on Darrelle Revis

The New York Jets are keeping all of their options open when it comes to cornerback Darrelle Revis. Owner Woody Johnson told reporters yesterday that he would be open to re-signing Revis, while he also acknowledged that the team would be willing to listen to offers for the All-Pro.

General manager John Idzik told reporters, including Jim Corbett of USA Today, that the Jets operate under the assumption that Revis will be with the team next season. If the GM believes giving Revis the extension he desires would “make the team better,” then Johnson is open to such a move, according to Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News.

However, Idzik wasn’t willing to say that Revis would definitely be on the team in 2013. Johnson wouldn’t concede this either, as he told reporters, including Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, that “if someone makes an offer to one of our players, you have to listen.”

Revis continues to recover from last year’s season-ending knee injury. Several teams – including the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – have been tied to the cornerback.
