Former #Bears TE Kellen Davis visiting the #Steelers tomorrow...
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 14, 2013
The Bears cut Davis after they signed free agent tight end
Martellus Bennett to a four-year, $20 million contract.
Davis was the starter in Chicago for each of the last two
seasons. He wasn’t extremely productive, as he caught only 37 passes for 435 yards
and six touchdowns over the two years. What he has been is durable, as he hasn’t
missed a game over his first five seasons in the NFL with the Bears.
The Steelers won’t view Davis as a starter, as they have
Heath Miller. However, Davis could replace backup tight end Leonard Pope, who
is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
