Seahaws DE Michael Bennett, who left Tampa for Seattle, was diagnosed with torn rotator cuff. Injury why Bennett got a 1-yr deal in SEA.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 24, 2013
Bennett was a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who
elected to sign a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks earlier this
offseason. Schefter notes that the end’s injury was the reason why he only
signed a one-year agreement with Seattle. His market never truly developed, and
this makes it clearer why this was the case.
The Seahawks have yet to announce if Bennett will require
surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff. Either way it will likely impact his
2013 season. If he does undergo a procedure, he’ll likely be sidelined to start
the season. If he attempts to play through the tear and rehab it, his
production is likely to suffer.
Bennett’s injury now gives the Seahawks a pair of pass
rushers dealing with significant ailments. Seattle’s defensive end Chris
Clemons is returning from reconstructive knee surgery.
