The Minnesota Vikings have reached out to Chicago Bears free
agent Brian Urlacher’s camp, and the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals are
also reportedly expressing interest in the veteran linebacker, according to
Mike Mulligan of The Chicago Tribune.
The Vikings’ source Mulligan spoke with said the Bears have
been monitoring Urlacher’s situation. Despite the fact that Minnesota has
reached out to Urlacher, the source continues to believe the veteran will
remain with Chicago.
Urlacher has presented the Bears with a two-year contract proposal,
something the team has yet to respond to. Rather than reach an agreement,
Chicago allowed the linebacker to reach the free agent market.
Urlacher is said to be seeking a deal in the range of the
$5.5 million Ray Lewis earned with the Baltimore Ravens last season. Chicago
may want the veteran to hit the open market and gauge interest in him so he can
see what he is really worth.
