49ers rumors: Unlikely to trade for Jets’ Darrelle Revis

It was reported earlier this week that the San Francisco 49ers were planning on using some of their newly acquired draft picks to pursue New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. However, sources around the NFL tell Ian Rapoport of NFL.com that the 49ers are “unlikely” to pursue Revis.

It’s been rumored that the Jets will consider trading Revis in order to add draft picks and shed salary for the next few years. The veteran corner wants his next contract to make him among the highest paid defensive players in the league.

Considering he’s coming off of major surgery and is already going to turn 28 prior to the start of next season, New York is hesitant to make this type of investment. It appears this is also the case in San Francisco, as financial factors appear to be setting up a roadblock when it comes to interest in a potential trade.

Regardless, the 49ers figure to pursue an upgrade at corner this offseason, though their priority is likely to be re-signing young players, such as wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
