Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is expected to
undergo a heart procedure in about a month, according to Alex Flanagan. It
would consist of a heart ablation to fix the problem that forced him to the sidelines during the Texans’ Week 16 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings due
to an irregular heartbeat.
Texans running back Arian Foster tells me he'll likely undergo a heart procedure in about a month.
Foster told Flanagan that he’s been aware of the heart issue
since he was 12 years old. He estimates that he’s experienced around eight
incidents where his heart has “raced irregularly” over the years. Week 16
marked the first time he experienced such an incident during a football game.
This prompted Foster to start discussing with doctors how
the issue could be fixed. It generally results in him having a shortness of
breath, but he’s unsure what triggers the condition. He believes it may be
related to stress, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
The condition hasn’t stopped Foster from becoming one of the
NFL’s top rushers. Last season he ran 351 times for 1,424 yards and 15
touchdowns, while catching 40 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
