New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and offensive
lineman David Baas both underwent surgery recently, head coach Tom Coughlin
told reporters at the NFL scouting combine.
Nicks underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, one of the injuries that hampered him throughout the 2012 season, as the wide
receiver also dealt with a fractured foot. It was reported that Nicks sustained
his knee injury in part due to compensating for his fractured foot.
These injuries forced Nicks to miss three games last season,
as he finished the year with 53 receptions for 692 yards and three touchdowns.
Coughlin wouldn’t specify Baas’ procedure, only saying that
he had work done “on his body.” While this seems extremely vague, Baas was a
walking injury report last season, so the coach’s prognosis makes some sense.
Baas frequented the team’s weekly reports with a multitude of injuries,
including hand, elbow, ankle, hip and shoulder ailments.
Despite his laundry list of injuries, Baas started all 16
games for the Giants this season.
