Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware was seen this week
in a sling for his surgically repaired right shoulder, and he told reporters,
including Charean Williams of The Star-Telegram, that he’ll also require a
minor procedure on his elbow.
"Just to get the bone fragments cleaned up," Ware said from radio row at the Super Bowl, where he is making the rounds.
Ware was hampered by injuries throughout the season. He
hyperextended his right elbow in a December matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals,
and he went on to injure his shoulder against the New Orleans Saints. This
latter injury required surgery to repair a torn posterior labrum, a procedure
that took place on Jan. 10.
Ware continues to recovery from that surgery, but it sounds
like he’ll undergo a separate minor procedure to clean up bone fragments in his
elbow. Throughout the season he wore braces to protect his shoulder and elbow.
Ware admits that his injuries hampered his play in 2012. The
30-year-old totaled 56 tackles, 11.5 sacks and five forced fumbles for the
Cowboys this season.
