Saints hire Rob Ryan to DC postion

After the Dallas Cowboys finished the 2012 season 8-8 and their defense showed a considerable amount of improvement from previous years, Rob Ryan was chosen as the guy to be let go after a two year tenure. Ryan said this in an interview with ESPNDallas.com,

"I inherited a team that was 31st in the league in defense and made them better”……”I (expletive) made them a hell of a lot better. I'll be out of work for like five minutes…"

Rob Ryan certainly took longer than “five minutes” to find his next job but the New Orleans Saints have hired him as their new defensive coordinator according to ESPN.com. Ryan even admitted that he was “a little shocked” by his release from the Dallas Cowboys. Monte Kiffin, who previously worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, replaced Ryan in Dallas and converted the team to a 4-3 defensive scheme.

In a statement provided by the Saints, Rob Ryan said this regarding his new position,

"I have had the opportunity to get to know Sean Payton and his staff a bit better recently and I am excited about joining the team”….. "I'm ready to get to work on all facets of the game. This is a great opportunity and we're getting started right away."

Ryan’s release comes with the Cowboys finishing 19th in the league in overall defense for the 2012 season. He looks to approve upon a Saints defense that finished last overall in the league, a task much similar to the one he undertook in Dallas.
