Broncos OL Chris Kuper Requires Another Surgery

Denver Broncos offensive lineman Chris Kuper will require another surgery in the same area as the severe left ankle dislocation he sustained during the final game of the 2011 season, according to Mike Klis of The Denver Post.

"This one is less traumatic," Kuper said. "It doesn't have all the other things wrong in there, so I'm optimistic it will be a normal recovery."

Kuper’s initial injury was much worse than the break he is currently dealing with. He originally sustained it on Jan. 1, 2012 during a contest against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the dislocation caused multiple breaks to his fibula along with several ligament tears in his leg. He underwent surgery at the time, which involved a plate being inserted along with several screws to help the recovery process.

According to Klis, not everything about the original surgery took, and Kuper will have to go under the knife again. The offensive lineman isn’t as concerned with this procedure, as he says it’s for a less severe injury than the one he initially sustained two seasons ago.

Kuper was limited by multiple injuries to only six games this season, though he did manage to suit up for Denver’s playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Despite his absence, Kuper was elected to the Pro Bowl, but he’ll have to bow out due to his surgery.
