Bruce Arians has assembled an immaculate coaching
staff in Arizona for the upcoming 2013 season by hiring Todd Bowles, Harold
Goodwin, and former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore, reports ESPN.com.
Moore will serve as the assistant head coach and
will also work heavily with the offense, Goodwin will be the offensive
coordinator but will relinquish the play calling duties to Bruce Arians, and
Bowles will come in as the new defensive coordinator to replace Ray Horton.
Tom Moore, who has coached in the NFL for over 30
years, offers much needed experience and structure to the Cardinals who were second
to last and last in the league in points scored and yards earned per game
respectively for the 2012 regular season, according to NFL.com. Harold Goodwin has
coached for nine years on the collegiate level and nine years as a professional
and has worked with the Bears, the Steelers, and the Colts, all while
experiencing notable success with all three ball clubs. Todd Bowles has previously
worked for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Miami Dolphins.
Bruce Arians said this when asked about his new
position as head coach,
“It
took me about an hour and a half in the middle of that long interview to know
that ‘Hey I want this job’.”
With the hiring of the new staff and most importantly
Bruce Arians, many Cardinal fans are hoping that an hour and a half of decision
making translates in to a season full of success.
