#49ers DL Justin Smith has triceps surgery planned for a few days after #SB47, I'm told. He said he's got 4 quarters left, though

Smith sustained a partially torn triceps during the 49ers
contest against the New England Patriots on Dec. 16. The injury forced him to
miss San Francisco’s remaining regular season games, but he was able to return
for the playoffs with the help of a protective brace, similar to the one worn
by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.
While Smith was able to return for the playoffs and the
49ers’ Super Bowl run, Rapoport reports that he will likely miss most, if not
all, of San Francisco’s offseason program as a result of the surgery.
Smith told reporters this weekend that his arm continues to
feel better every week. Still, he’s been limited and less dominant since
returning due to the injury, but his presence has still helped draw enough
double teams to continue to help out his team.
