New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said yesterday that quarterback
Greg McElroy is dealing with an abdominal injury, putting into question whether
Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez will see playing time in the team’s season finale
against the Buffalo Bills, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Via multiple reports, Ryan said Wednesday that McElroy has an abdominal issue. (Given that he was sacked 11 times on Sunday, it’s surprising he still has an abdomen at all.)
At this point McElroy is still expected to start Sunday
against the Bills, but his injury throws into question the possibility of Tebow
or Sanchez seeing action in the finale.
After the Jets decided to bench Sanchez, McElroy got the nod
over Tebow last weekend against the San Diego Chargers. The second-year player
completed 14 of his 24 pass attempts for 185 yards with no touchdowns and one
interception.
