Falcons Injury Report: John Abraham, Dunta Robinson Exit with Injuries

The Atlanta Falcons lost a pair of starters on defense yesterday during their 22-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, lineman John Abraham and cornerback Dunta Robinson, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

The Falcons lost starting cornerback Dunta Robinson to a head injury in the first quarter and defensive end John Abraham to an ankle injury in the fourth quarter. Abraham was carted to the Falcons’ locker room after leaving the game. Falcons coach Mike Smith revealed in postgame remarks that Abraham's injury was minor.

While Abraham’s injury is expected to be minor, it’s not yet clear what Robinson is dealing with. The Falcons haven’t labeled the head injury as a concussion, and the cornerback is expected to undergo further evaluation today.

The injuries once again bring into question the practice of playing your starters in games that are meaningless. The Falcons had already clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC, but the team showed yesterday that it’s not one that can afford to take two weeks off.
