Redskins Injury Report: Brandon Meriweather Placed on IR

The Washington Redskins have placed safety Brandon Meriweather on injured reserve after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Sunday’s 31-6 romp over the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has announced.

Meriweather will undergo surgery which carries with it a projected six month recovery period.

Sunday marked Meriweather’s regular season debut for the Redskins as he missed the first part of the year while dealing with strains in his medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He faced two setbacks which stalled his return.

Prior to his injury, Meriweather was having quite the game for the Redskins. He recorded seven tackles, two pass breakups and one interception.
