The Washington Redskins have placed safety Brandon
Meriweather on injured reserve after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in
Sunday’s 31-6 romp over the Philadelphia Eagles, the team has announced.

Meriweather will be placed in injured reserve and is expected to have surgery with a six month recovery time. This is his first NFL injury.

Meriweather will undergo surgery which carries with it a
projected six month recovery period.
Sunday marked Meriweather’s regular season debut for the
Redskins as he missed the first part of the year while dealing with strains in
his medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his left
knee. He faced two setbacks which stalled his return.
Prior to his injury, Meriweather was having quite the game
for the Redskins. He recorded seven tackles, two pass breakups and one
interception.
