Jaguars Injury Report: Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Maurice Jones-Drew

Even though Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert may be healthy enough to return from an elbow injury this week, the team has named Chad Henne as its starter following his impressive performance against the Houston Texans. Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey also said that running back Maurice Jones-Drew is unlikely to play for another week as he continues to recover from a foot injury, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.

Gabbert is "questionable" this week because of his elbow injury, according to Mularkey. But the Jaguars aren't waiting around to see if Gabbert is healthy enough to start, like they would with a true "franchise quarterback."

Rosenthal says the Jaguars’ decision to go with Henne over a possibly healthy Gabbert brings into question that team’s belief in the second-year quarterback. Mularkey made it clear Henne’s start has more to do with his performance last weekend than it does with Gabbert’s injury, which Rosenthal calls a “convenient way for the Jaguars to see if their offense would look better with someone other than Gabbert running the show.”

Henne has looked bad in the past, as recently as Week 7 against the Oakland Raiders in fact, but he finished the Texans game with 344 yards passing and four touchdowns.

Mularkey also said he is going to still with running back Jalen Parmele over Rashad Jennings in place of the injured Jones-Drew.
