Despite having to leave the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving day game with a hip injury, Miles Austin is expected to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Austin was injured early in the game last Thursday and had to leave the field. He did not return, complaining of hip and back pain.
ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that sources have told him Austin's injury is not severe enough to keep him from Sunday's game and the wide receiver is expected to play.
Dallas dropped their game on Thursday against the Washington Redskins, and the concern was they may have lost one of their best offensive threats in the process. Austin is second on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. He has 727 yards-receiving and four touchdowns.
Austin is a seven-year veteran, all with the Cowboys. His best season came in 2009, but he has been one of the most productive receiver on the team throughout his career.
The Cowboys will need every threat they have at their disposal. They are 5-6 on the season and on the verge of dropping out of playoff contention. Once again this year, the Cowboys have failed to live up to expectations.
