It was reported Monday that San Francisco 49ers wide
receiver Kyle Williams would miss the remainder of the season due to injury,
and yesterday it came out that the team will also be without running back
Kendall Hunter for the rest of the year due to a torn Achilles, reports Matt
Barrows of The Sacramento Bee.

Hunter and Williams were injured on the same play Sunday
during the 49ers contest against the New Orleans Saints. Following the contest
San Francisco diagnosed Hunter as having an ankle injury. However, Barrows
reported yesterday that Hunter had actually sustained a torn Achilles and will
likely be placed on injured reserve. The 49ers later confirmed the report and
placed both Williams and Hunter on IR.
Hunter was starting running back Frank Gore’s primary backup
this season. Prior to his injury he had rushed for 371 yards and one touchdown
on 72 carries.
In place of Hunter the 49ers are expected to use rookie
LaMichael James veteran back Brandon Jacobs, who saw his first action of the
season against the Saints. James has yet to be activated this season.
