Bears Injury Report: Lance Louis Placed on IR

While the Chicago Bears placed offensive lineman Lance Louis on injured reserve after he sustained a significant knee injury during their victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, the team announced that the injury to fellow offensive lineman Chris Spencer isn’t believed to be serious, reports Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune.

Louis was injured while being blocked by Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen during an interception return Sunday. Allen’s hit was characterized by Mike Pereria, the former vice president of officiating, as “an illegal blindside block.” Bears coach Lovie Smith wasn’t happy about the hit.

Chicago’s offensive line is already considered one of the more questionable units in the league, so they received a bit of good news when it was determined that Spencer’s injury wasn’t viewed as serious. While an MRI did reveal some torn cartilage in the offensive lineman’s knee, it doesn’t sound like it will sideline him for a significant stretch.
