Having initially been listed as questionable for his team's Monday Night Football showdown against the Cowboys in Dallas, Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte will now be a game-time decision as the team look to evaluate him during pre-game warmups.
Speaking on WBBM-AM 780, coach Lovie Smith said of Forte: "He's made a lot of progress. We'll get over to the stadium, see how he does then and decide."
It's difficult to underestimate the importance of Forte's presence tonight as the Bears will need to rely heavily on their running game. Chicago bring their 28th ranked passing offense to town and find themselves matched up with Dallas's league leading pass defense, a unit giving up just 137 yards per game through the air over the first three weeks of the sesson.
Michael Bush will deputise once again should Forte not suit up, but his 3.4 yards per carry average won't strike fear into the home team and the Cowboys would like nothing better than forcing the Bears to beat them through the air.
Forte's been out since spraining his ankle against the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, an injury that forced him to miss last week's victory over the St. Louis Rams.
