Darin
Gantt of NBCSports reports that the New England Patriots signed former Indianapolis
Colts wide receiver, Austin Collie.
Collie is an experienced WR; however, he is just as injury prone as Danny Amendola. Collie has missed 22 games in the last three seasons.
I am the first to realize that the Patriots are thin at the WR position with four of their six WRs on this week’s injury report, which includes Matthew Slater who is out indefinitely and Danny Amendola with a return uncertain.
The Patriots have a complex offense and it is well documented that Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, is not the best at breaking in veteran wide receivers.
To me, Collie is another slot reciever like Julian Edelman and Amendola, something the Patriots do not need. They need a big, strong WR, like Cleveland Browns Josh Gordon.
It will be a few games to see if the acquisition of Collie will pay dividends, if he is even still on the team by then.
Talk football talk cigars talk anything, I know a little
about a lot.
