After handing Da'Rel Scott his first start on Sunday, the 0-4 New York Giants waived the running back two days later.
Scott had 26 rushing yards on five carries, and caught one pass for zero yards against the Chiefs on Sunday. He had 56 rushing yards on his ten carries for the season, this was second behind David Wilson's 130 yards. Scott also caught ten passes for 98 yards including his first career touchdown against the Denver Broncos.
The New York Giants have started out 0-4 for the first time since 1987 and are looking to find a way to ignite their season.
The Giants came into the season hoping David Wilson would be their starting running back, however he has issues securing the football and in pass protection meaning he has split time in the first quarter of the season.
The move shows that the Giants have gained confidence in Wilson to hand him greater responsibility in the offense. This should be welcoming news for fantasy owners of David Wilson who will should now become the starter it was hoped he would be at the start of the season.
Waiving Scott has allowed the Giants to add depth to the offensive line signing Ex Philadelphia Eagles backup Dallas Reynolds.
Scott was drafted in the seventh round out of Maryland in 2011 by the Giants. He was featured in 11 games his rookie season and another four in 2012, before going on injured reserve with a knee injury.
