Cleveland Browns quarterback, Brandon Weeden, has a
pulse. It appears Weeden is cleared to
play as he was full participation in practice on Monday. However, Browns quarterback, Brian Hoyer, is
set to start Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills but as Mary
Kay Cabot tells us, Weeden feels otherwise.
Weeden, who lost his starting job to Hoyer after injuring
his thumb in Week 2, told reporters:
I'd be lying if I said this was the ideal situation. I want to be out there. You never draw it up that you’re going to get hurt Week 2 and stuff like this happens. But it’s life. You can’t feel sorry for yourself. I’m treating it like this is still my football team, I’m still involved in the offense. I’m not discouraged.Head coach Rob Chudzinski announced Monday that Hoyer will start Thursday night and it is clear that Weeden is not their number one; if he were, he would be out there.
"I’m not going to feel sorry for myself and start sulking and pouting,'' Weeden said. That’s just not the way I go about it. I've still got a lot of confidence in my ability and I’m not discouraged. I think I played better this year and my confidence is still high.''
Coach Chudzinski stated he would evaluate the quarterback situation on a “week-to-week” basis, with that, Weeden thinks he will start again for the Browns, stating:
That's my mindset. I can’t approach it any other way. If I did, I’d be doing a disservice to myself and doing a disservice to this offense. I’m going to work just as hard as I did in the off-season to win the job. I’m going to keep continuing to work just as hard now as I did week one and week two and go from there.Weeden said he threw the ball with no restrictions Monday, unless you count the entire Browns organization.
