Just a week after saying that quarterback Robert Griffin III has been slowed down by the bulk of his protective knee brace, Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon now says that Griffin is "not fully healthy, obviously", according to the Washington Post.
“He’s running a little bit more. But last year’s RGIII was a lot different from this year’s RG because of his knee. It’s not surprising. We’ve been talking about it the whole offseason. It’s the same question every day on Monday. We can find something else to talk about" Garcon said on Monday.
In an attempt to kick start the offense, the Redskins let Griffin call his own number a lot more in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Detroit Lions. RGIII looked a lot better running the football, rushing for 37 yards on six carries. Griffin had one run that was reminiscent of his rookie season, but he fumbled at the end of the run after diving head first. He also completed 32 of 50 passes for 326 yards and was intercepted once.
Although the Redskins have lost their third straight game Sunday, Griffin has made great progress in getting reacquainted with full speed game action again after tearing his ACL in the wild card round of the playoffs last January. RGIII no longer looks afraid to run with the football, and it appears that Griffin has rediscovered the burst of speed that makes him such a dangerous player.
