The Oakland Raiders handed the Washington Redskins their
first win yesterday. To add injury to insult, the Raiders had to watch a pair
of running backs exit the game. Darren McFadden left with a hamstring injury,
while Marcel Reece suffered a knee injury, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.
McFadden sustained his hamstring injury in the first half. He
was initially ruled questionable to return, but the team later confirmed that
he would be out for the remainder of the contest.
Reece, the team’s Pro Bowl full back, also suffered an
injury, as he was forced to leave the game with a knee ailment. By the time the
second half rolled around, Reece joined McFadden on the sidelines. The street
clothes they each sported indicated neither would be returning.
Rashad Jennings replaced McFadden as the Raiders’ primary
running back. Oakland was already without quarterback Terrelle Pryor, meaning
the team was without their entire starting backfield for the second half of the
game.
