Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Moeaki has battled
injuries throughout his short career. He was poised to enter the 2013 season
healthy, but he recently suffered a fractured shoulder. As a result, he’s out
indefinitely, and the Chiefs weren’t willing to be patient with the former
third-round pick. Moeaki sent out his farewell via Twitter, and hours later the
Chiefs made the cut official.
Well chiefs kingdom, it's been a pleasure. Best fans. Was starting to feel back to form. Bad timing for an inj. However...Challenge accepted

After being selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL
Draft, Moeaki caught 47 passes in his rookie campaign. It appeared the Chiefs
had a productive tight end that they could plug in for years to come, but then
the injuries began.
Moeaki suffered a torn ACL in the preseason of 2011, cutting
short his campaign before it even began. He did go on to catch 33 passes for
435 yards and one touchdown last season, but he remained on the bubble heading
toward the end of camp. It’s not clear if he would have survived without
injuring his shoulder, but it appears the fractured shoulder could have been
his final blow.
Moeaki remained upbeat in his tweet, but it can’t be easy to
have your job eliminated, likely due to an injury. He’s young enough that he
should be able to latch on elsewhere eventually, as he’s proven a productive
player in the past when healthy.
Without Moeaki, the Chiefs move forward with Anthony Fasano
and rookie Travis Kelce as their top two tight ends.
