Cardinals’ Rashad Johnson loses top of finger

It’s clear that NFL players are tougher than most. In case you’ve forgotten this, or just don’t want to believe it considering the money they make, here’s another reminder. Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson lost the tip of his left middle finger after tackling New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles during a punt return during Sunday’s contest, according to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic.

Somers indicated that when Johnson left the field and removed his glove, part of his finger remained in the glove. After that, he continued playing with part of his finger missing.
It wasn’t until after the game that Johnson had the finger issue addressed. The safety underwent surgery on the finger, during which the digit had to be shaved down to the first knuckle. The bone was exposed so the shaving had to be done to fight against infection.
