The Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Minnesota Vikings “across
the pond” on Sunday and Steelers running back, Le’Veon Bell, will be making the
trip to tote the rock in the town with the big bang clock.
Dan Hanzus of NFL.com reports that Bell will play his first regular season game on Sunday, in London, England, against the Minnesota Vikings. A second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, Bell’s training camp was inundated with injuries, including a mid-foot sprain suffered last month in a preseason game. The mid-foot sprain being the most troublesome since it has kept him from the club and in the tub.
The Steelers are winless so far this season and Bell can only help a running attack that is poor at best. The trio of Felix Jones, Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman has combined to average only 3.2 yards per carry. This is not good enough if the Steelers want to remain competitive this season.
The good news in all of this is that the season is far from over and Bell and the Steelers have a few weeks to put the brakes on this Steel Town train wreck. In my opinion, there is no better place to start fresh and right the ship than in front of the fans in the UK.
UPDATE:
Josh
Alper of NBCSports reports that Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, confirmed Tuesday that
Bell is expected to play against the Vikings in London on Sunday. This will be Bell's NFL regular season
debut. Tomlin said of Bell, “He perked
up dramatically at the end of last week.”
I am looking for Bell to have an immediate impact against the Vikings.
