Is this the beginning of the end? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced their team captains for the season and Josh Freeman is not one of them. The "C" will be removed from Freeman's jersey for the first time since his rookie season in 2009 according to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times. Though he was stripped of his captaincy, head coach Greg Schiano has gone on record in saying that Freeman is still a leader.
Without the "C" on his jersey the rumors will start flying around Freeman potentially being unseated by 3rd-round pick Mike Glennon. Glennon has played well in the preseason and Freeman has one year left in his rookie contract. Freeman appears to be on the hot seat entering the season and if he gets off to a rough start Bucs fans may be seeing Glennon under center sooner rather than later.

"I know one thing, Josh is going to lead," Schiano said. "Josh is a leader. So I'm not concerned about that. We follow No. 5.' I think it's a good thing. I guess it all depends how you look at it. I'm fine with it."The Buccaneers have announced that wide receiver Vincent Jackson and guard Davin Joseph have been named the offensive captains. On the defensive side of the ball defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and safety Dashon Goldson were given the "C" and linebacker Adam Hayward will lead the special-teams unit.
