Baltimore Ravens wide receiver/punt returner, Jacoby Jones,
is out with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. As Jamison
Hensley of ESPN.com reports, Jones is also a man in the wrong place at the
wrong time.
Jones is probably not the only player ever in the NFL to rehab an injury on a party bus, but Jones may be the only NFL player to be hit in the head with a champagne bottle (everything is better with steaks and champagne!) by a pole dancer named Sweet Pea or whatever her name is.
Jones’ wants to sweep the bottle wielding stripper incident under the proverbial rug, telling 105.7 The Fan in Baltimore, “I'm going to take the responsibility that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. There was no altercation. There's nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong but I take responsibility for being in wrong place at the wrong time. Enough said. I apologize to my teammates and everybody."
When asked if he spoke to his head coach, Jones added, "We're good. We're fine. Everything is good."
Jones is correct; he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. One thing he did not say was that he was lucky. Jones is lucky that the police did not get involved and he is lucky he was not arrested. Jones can dismiss this happening now only because of these things, not because there was “no incident.”
Nothing good happens at two in the morning anyway (well, maybe some stuff does). Jones needs to act more responsibly because his life is under a microscope and the Ravens need him back at 100% in order to have a chance to take down the Cincinnati Bengals.
If I was anyone associated with the Ravens’ organization, I would be extremely upset with Jones’ actions because Jones’ eyes should be on one thing, his recovery, and not any peas that are oh so sweet.
