I took a brown bag beating by taking the Vikings -7 on
Sunday. With running back Trent
Richardson gone and reports, rumors, gossip and lies that the Cleveland Browns
wanted to trade wide receiver Josh Gordon swirling in the fall breeze, I thought
the Vikings would take the Browns to the ice shed, done deal. I was wrong and after the Browns’ defeat of
Minnesota, Gordon made it clear he wants to stay in the Dawg Pound.
As Josh
Alper of NBCSports reports, Gordon, coming off a two-game suspension, had a
tremendous day catching 10 pigskins for 146 yards and a touchdown.
The subject of recent trade rumors, Gordon was all Cleveland
after the game, telling reporters:
I always want to stay here and be a Cleveland Brown and help this organization as much as possible. I love the offense, love Norv and coach. I’m learning a lot. From a wide receiver standpoint, it’s the best offense to be in, and I can’t complain at all. It’s a business. So [a trade] can happen at any given time. Whatever decision is made, that’s above me. You’ve got to got out there and play. If you’re going to go out there and not be focused, you might get your head knocked off. So I had to go out there and stand between the lines.Gordon can say or do nothing else. If Gordon gets in trouble again with the NFL for the same issues, his suspension is a mandatory one year. Browns’ CEO, Joe Banner, said the Browns have “no intention” of making other trades.
Gordon’s great game did three things. One, it proves he can play when he has his priorities in order and two, by his own admission; he wants to be with the Browns. However, his play also made him more desirable by other teams and that leads to number three, if the right offer comes along will the Browns want Gordon to stay in Cleveland as much as he claims he wants to be there.
Can we ask Trent Richardson?
