UPDATE: Patriots’ Sebastian Vollmer leaves Sunday’s game with apparent foot injury

Keith Nordstrom of the Sun Chronicle reports that New England Patriots right tackle, Sebastian Vollmer, left today’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second half with an apparent foot injury.

Vollmer has been a solid offensive lineman for the Pats since being drafted in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft.  Vollmer did not return to the game and was replaced by Marcus Cannon.

The Patriots won the game 23-3 and improved to 3-0.  However, quarterback Tom Brady was sacked three times.  Though the Patriots have good depth on the offensive line, losing Vollmer for any length of time would be troublesome.

The seriousness of the injury is unknown at this time.  Check back with me during the week for updates on Vollmer and other Patriots while they prepare for their Week 4 showdown with the Atlanta Falcons.

UPDATE:

Luke Hughes of NESN reports that Vollmer was spotted in the locker room after the game in a walking boot.  There is still no word on the severity of the injury.
