UPDATE: Bills Injury Update: C.J. Spiller, Leodis McKelvin, Marcell Dareus and Mario Williams

The Buffalo Bills lost an important division game against a sloppy New York Jets team late Sunday.  They also are now down a few key players.  As Josh Alper of NBCSports reports, the Bills lost cornerback Leodis McKelvin, running back C.J. Spiller and defensive tackle Marcell Dareus.

Spiller’s return was questionable with a knee injury. He did not return to action.  He rushed for nine yards on 10 carries.  Fred Jackson and Tashard Choice filled in.

Dareus left with an ankle injury and his return was questionable.  He did not return.

The Bills' secondary decimated with injuries are already without CB Ron Brooks (foot) and defensive back Stephon Gilmore (wrist).  In addition, safety Jairus Byrd (foot), listed as questionable on the Bills’ injury report was inactive for today’s game.

It was obvious in Sunday’s game how important these players in the Bills’ secondary are as Jets rookie quarterback, Geno Smith, went deep a few times, including a touchdown to wide receiver Santonio Holmes that proved to be the game winner.

UPDATE:

Buffalo Bills defensive end, Mario Williams, was noticeably absent during the final drives of the New York Jets.  Josh Alper of NBCSports reports that Bills head coach, Doug Marrone, wasn’t aware of any specific health problem or injury that had knocked Williams out of the game.

However, Williams was “limping mightily” after the game and that he was headed for an x-ray with an undisclosed injury.  The injury is unknown and the severity is unknown.  However, one thing is certain, if Williams is out for any length of time; this is an injury the Bills might not overcome.

In addition, Adam Schefter reports that Spiller actually injured his thigh and injury not considered serious.  See Schefter's twitter feed below:

Adam Schefter is reporting that Williams has an ankle sprain and will try to play Sunday.   See Schefter's twitter feed below:

UPDATE 9/26/2013:

Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports that C.J. Spiller was full participation on Wednesday and expects to play Sunday.  Spiller told reporters, "It was a good day. I pushed myself.  Tomorrow will be a good step to see where I'm at."

Rodak also reports that Mario Williams did not participate in practice; however, Williams said he will play on Sunday, telling reporters, "Definitely going to be ready. I'm not even worrying about that."

Defensive tackle Kyle Williams, wide receiver Stevie Johnson (hamstring) and CB Leodis McKelvin did not participate on Wednesday and DT Marcell Dareus (ankle) was limited participation.  McKelvin got testy telling reporters, "This is part of my strength: my speed. What would you do? Would you put yourself there, not going out there 100 percent?  When you need to run fast and cover people, you have to watch that very closely. I'm working my behind off to go get back out there."
