By now, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has made it known that he plans on playing Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. But for the first time this summer Griffin was confident enough to go as far as to say that his surgically repaired knee was at 100 percent, in an interview with ESPN980 in Washington.
We will find out if Dr. James Andrews agrees with Griffin, Thursday, when he will once again evaluate RG III at the preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and give the quarterback his Week 1 verdict. According to Andrews, Griffin has been ahead of schedule for the majority of his recovery, so barring any setbacks it would be surprising if Griffin is not cleared for Week 1.
Luckily for the Redskins, if Griffin is not cleared to play, backup quarterback Kirk Cousins says he will be ready to go if his number is called. When asked if there was any doubt he'd be ready, Cousins replied, "none at all".
