New York Giants running back Andre Brown left Thursday night's 28-20 preseason loss the New England Patriots with a fractured left leg, NFL.com's Dan Hanzus reports.
Brown suffered the injury in the second quarter when his leg took a hit from the helmet of a Patriots defender. It was the same leg that Brown fractured in 2012, causing his season to end early, after 10 games.
Brown insists that the injury is "not that serious". With Brown likely out for four to six weeks, the Giants desperately need another running back to step up and provide some depth in his absence. If the Giants don't look to free agency, Ryan Torain and Da'rel Scott could both see more playing time. Fantasy Football owners may want to take a flyer on Giants starting running back David Wilson. Wilson was already poised for a very productive year, but with Brown now out indefinitely you can expect Wilson's numbers to inflate.
