With running back Rashard Mendenhall set to undergo an MRI
exam to determine the extent of his knee injury, it would seem like a time the
Arizona Cardinals would be looking to potentially add another rusher. However,
despite Mendenhall’s knee ailment, the Cardinals are shopping former second-round pick Ryan Williams, according to Jason
La Canfora of CBS Sports.
The Cardinals are shopping RB Ryan Williams ahead of the roster cutdown deadlines.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was raving about Williams
over the offseason. However, his surgically-repaired knee gave him issues
throughout training camp, causing him to make his first preseason appearance
during the team’s third exhibition contest.
If this report is true, the Cardinals would be indicating
that they’d be willing to go with a committee of Alfonso Smith and rookies
Stepfan Taylor and Andre Ellington behind Mendenhall.
NFL.com mentions that Williams has ties to the Chargers and
Jets based on his connections with former front office executives and head
coach Ken Whisenhunt. However, it’s unclear if any teams are interested in the
running back.
