Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap was held out
of practice yesterday after suffering a concussion earlier in the week,
according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

It’s unclear if this is something that Dunlap can recover from soon, or if it’s an injury that will continue to sideline him through the preseason. As concussions have shown in the past, it’s difficult to pinpoint a return timeframe for players, considering some have more lasting and long-term impacts than others.
Considering the timing of the injury, the Bengals will
likely take it slow with Dunlap. There’s no need to rush him back even after he’s
cleared to return.
The Bengals signed Dunlap to a lucrative, long-term contract
extension this offseason. The deal was for six-years and $40 million, and
Cincinnati is hoping the defensive end is able to start earning that big pay
day Week 1.
