When Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall underwent
hip surgery seven months ago, the hope was that the playmaker would be ready to
go when the regular season began. While Marshall is slated to suit up for Week
1, he continues to be hampered by his ailing hip, according to Patrick Finley of The Chicago Sun-Times.
“It’s one of those things where I’m just trying to get healthy for Week 1,” he said Tuesday after practice at Halas Hall. “So you’ve got to have a game plan coming off surgery, a third hip surgery. So yeah, I’m not where I want to be right now. It’s a little frustrating. But we’ll see.”
Finley notes that conditioning has been an issue, but
Marshall said he has a grasp on head coach Marc Trestman’s new offense.
Considering Marshall’s importance to the Bears’ offense,
this could have fans wary so close to the start of the regular season. It’s
disappointing that Marshall won’t be all the way healthy following his third
hip procedure, but he should be good enough to take the field to start the
regular season.
