Scissor Saturday: NFL, AFC North and East teams making the required cuts

As I wrote about it last week, it is a tough time of year for NFL teams as they try to reduce their rosters to the required 53.  All 32 teams have until Saturday 6 p.m. to reach the magic number.  However, beginning Sunday at Noon, each team can sign players to its eight-member practice squad.  For our beloved AFC North and East divisions, read on and see if your favorite player made the cut and if your team made all the right moves.

Below is a list of players who have been sent packing in your AFC North and East divisions.  This list will be updated as teams continue to make their announcements to get to 53.  Hey, and I am not perfect (as my wife points out every day) so if I left someone off the chopping block or you want to vent because your team kept this hobo and not that hobo, let me know.

Keep in mind everyone; do not back up the truck just yet.  This is not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning.  There are still practice squad rosters to create and players cut today may be back with your team after any injured reserve designation to return decisions are made at the start of next week.  There is also the wacky waiver wire where hundreds of these cuts will end up.  So stay with me, we are in this game together.

Shocker cut of the day: Patriots P Zoltan Mesko.  Honorable shocker cut of the day: Bengals FB John Conner.

Not surprised this guy is out of a job: Patriots QB Tim Tebow.

"Let it be at 53" veteran I feel sorry for the most: Steelers S Ross Ventrone
