Jets’ Mark Sanchez listed as day-to-day, season opener in doubt

Mike Florio of NBCSports reports that New York Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, remains day-to-day after injuring his throwing shoulder in the Jets’ third preseason game against the New York Football Giants.

Will New York Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, get ink of his wife wearing a Matt Simms jersey?  Highly unlikely, even though New York Jets QB, Matt Simms, is starting the Jets fourth and final preseason game.

The more important question is who will be commanding the huddle for the Jets’ season opener? The Jets have not committed to naming a starting signal caller and they do not have to, at least not yet.  If this was an episode on Adult Swim (or if we were hanging with a certain former Patriots tight end), Rex’s tattoo of his wife wearing a Sanchez jersey would come alive as a cartoon character and play QB for the Jets come week 1.

Reports are that the Jets are uncertain if Sanchez can start the season and are playing this one close to the first class section so other teams do not think they are desperate for a QB.  In Jets’ logic, if other teams feel the Jets are in dire need of a QB, they would certainly up the price for the Jets in any trade.

The more I try to understand the Jets, the more I go into spatial disorientation.  The Jets have been in need of a QB for a few seasons now so I am not sure why it matters now what other teams think they do or do not need.

New York Jets QB, Geno Smith, had a throw-up performance for his third preseason game.  However, Smith’s performance (or lack thereof) is of no real significance since the Jets are not going to win much this season anyway.  So all of this Jets’ drivel about who is or who is not the starter is unnecessary.  If Sanchez cannot go with a bad shoulder, Geno is the man.  If Sanchez is healthy enough to play, Sanchez gets the nod.  Alternatively, option C; the Jets start a cartoon character.  I vote for option C, since it is more likely to earn a W.
