Like ever team this time of year, the Cincinnati Bengals are
trying to get healthy for their season opener.
There are some encouraging signs that the players on the mend are losing
the band-aids and donning the cleats.
Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle, Andre Smith, is one player circling
September 8 on his calendar.
Joe Reedy of Cincinnati.com reports that OT, Andre Smith, who tweaked his knee in Saturday night’s game against Dallas, had a magnetic resonance imaging test and that came back negative. This is good news for Andy Dalton and the offense. Smith should be ready for Week 1 action.

Smith’s "brother on the line," OT Andrew Whitworth, who has
been out all training camp with knee issues, is doubtful to take the field
Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts. Whitmore is working hard to get ready
for the September 8 season opener and though he wants the game reps, he is
confident he can be game ready without the benefit of preseason time.
Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins is feeling better. Hawkins showed up at Bengals' practice sans
his walking boot. There is no timetable for
his return, however, Hawkins remains positive stating, “I have the same goal
since I got hurt and that’s to get ready as soon as possible.” Hawkins sprained
his left ankle while trying to make a catch on Aug. 1.
In other moves, the Bengals place linebacker Sean Porter on inured reserve. Porter suffered a torn labrum this preseason. The Bengals also waived offensive lineman Otis Hudson and Jason Weaver. Linebacker Brandon Joiner was waived as an injury, therefore, he could join the Bengals IR if not claimed by another team. Fullback Chris Pressley and quarterback Zac Robinson were both placed on the phisically unable to perform list. With these moves, the Bengals get their roster to the required 75 players.
