Yesterday it was reported that San Francisco 49ers
linebacker Patrick Willis’ hand injury was actually a slight fracture. While
that could sound significant, it is not a major concern for Willis or the
49ers, according to Pro Football Talk.
At this point, all indications are that Willis will be fine,
despite yesterday’s announcement of the slightly fractured hand. After
suffering the injury on Wednesday, Willis underwent X-rays to determine the
extent of the damage yesterday, when the fracture was revealed.
This isn’t to say that Willis won’t miss time during
training camp and into the preseason, as the 49ers will take things slow with
Willis until the games start mattering. Considering the All-Pro has playing through
broken hands in the past, there’s no reason to think he won’t be ready to suit
up for Week 1 of the regular season, even if he doesn’t participate in
exhibition contests.
