Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing suffered a season-ending knee injury last October. Since then he's promised to receive medical cleared prior to the start of Houston's 2013 training camp. Cushing has met his goal, as Pro Football Talk reported yesterday that the linebacker has been cleared by Dr. James Andrews, adding that he'll be ready to go when Texans' training camp opens.
Considering he's coming off a severe knee injury -- torn ACLs -- the Texans are expected to ease Cushing back into action. However, PFT noted that there's no reason to believe the linebacker won't be full-go by the time Houston takes on the San Diego Chargers Week 1.
Cushing's return will offer the Texans a big boost, as their defense took a noticeable hit during his absence. He'll be counted on to lead a young linebacker corps that also includes Darryl Sharpton and Whitney Mercilus.
